Come Join us for a Rabbit Hill - Markets & Cooking Workshop in 2017!
"A visit to Rabbit Hill was on my foodie adventure wish list since I discovered Cat's website. I had the good fortune to seize the opportunity to attend a one-day workshop during a recent trip to France with my daughter and friend. Cat met us in Honfleur where we were staying. We had coffee at a local spot to review the menu and then she escorted us to the organic market. On arrival to Rabbit Hill we were greeted by some very lively and adorable geese. The farm and setting could not have been more charming. Once in the kitchen we learned many tips, techniques and new recipes that we have all since replicated at home during the holidays. Cat was the perfect mentor in the kitchen. Everything was organized to perfection. It was a most relaxed, informative and enjoyable “hands-on” experience….one of the most memorable moments of our trip. Cat has a special spark that exudes a passion and enthusiasm for French lifestyle and food that is contagious. My only regret is that we could not stay and learn from her a little bit longer….but that will be saved and savored for a future adventure!" Mercedes from Miami, Florida, USA
"When I learned that Cat was offering her cooking workshops, my husband and I both knew immediately we wanted to go. On the morning of the workshop we met at a beautiful French market and selected items for our lunch. I have to say that we felt like old friends right from the first hello. Their home, Rabbit Hill was such a treat.... the cows, the goats, the geese and chickens and their dog ( Izzie) and their lovely family. What fun to experience a real French farmhouse and a bit of their everyday life. The cooking workshop was such a thrill. We put on our aprons and jumped right it. Cat was so dear to share some of her great tips on meal prep and make it so easy that I've come home with some great recipes and ideas that I am eager to share with friends. From appetizers to desserts we came away with a great experience, new friends, new recipes. We would do it again and highly recommend the workshop to others. Our lunch and day with Cat at the cooking workshop was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Europe this Spring." Sandy & Otis, Georgia - USA
"We absolutely loved our time with Cat and her family. From the first instant we felt welcomed into their lives like they had known us forever. She had everything planned and prepared for us. All we had to do was listen, watch her demonstrate, and then try it for ourselves. Cat was the perfect instructor and we never felt out of place or embarrassed by our novice skills (or overuse of butter). My husband and I have already put some of our new knowledge to use and we have received rave reviews from friends and families. It was an amazing day getting to see everything and getting to know everyone a little bit better. We were so blessed by our time there." Kaitlin & John, Ohio - USA
"In April, my husband Brian and I had the privilege to attend a Sunday lunch at Rabbit Hill. I was eagerly awaiting our visit and not a moment of it was anything less than I expected! The market, the countryside, the towns, and of course, their farm was right out of a movie set. We shopped and chatted through stands of beautiful produce, cheeses, meats, and more. Once at their home, they were incredibly welcoming and put us (inexperienced cooks) at ease! We had a great time prepping and cooking an authentic French meal...and even learned some new techniques along the way. We sat down to enjoy a relaxed, beautiful, and wonderful meal to be followed by coffee and a farm tour. Doesn't get much better than that! Would love to visit again. It was an absolute delight!" WHAT IS A FOODIE WORKSHOP?
You might already know that I am a passionate FOODIE, who loves going to the local markets and shops to find inspiration to feed the people that I love. Since moving to France I have become enamored with the local produce markets, the epiceries and the fresh vendors that we have access to on a daily basis. I have also come to know and love the French philosophy of buying fresh foods with the intention of immediate use rather than buying huge quantities of food to stock-pile in the pantry or fridge.
My VISION for the workshops has always been to share the authentic French country cooking, lifestyle and traditions and not only that, but also to teach and share in a way that inspires participants to learn these essential elements of the French life and to transfer and apply these ideas within their own homes.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Begin your workshop by a visit to a local produce and goods market where we will browse and select ingredients for a traditional relaxed French lunch at Rabbit Hill. We can chat about ideas and plan the menu together. After lunch we might visit my favorite epicerie and kitchen wares shop or you are free to explore our town or nearby villages. We will resume cooking in the early evening and begin dinner with a casual wine-tasting.
On the following day or days in addition, we might go to a local brocante or flea market to search for culinary inspired vintage items and antiques; linens, table settings, bistro porcelain and ironstone, flatware ...
Each workshop will be unique in it's own way. and seasonally themed by what is featured at the markets. I will be offering two-day weekend workshops throughout the year beginning in March and can schedule all other days of the week also by reservation.
FOUR DAY WORKSHOPS: 4-8 people / Wednesday thru Saturday
